The "Club"

The "Alde Garde" is a small (very small) club. In fact, we are no real wargames club at all, we just use the name to present demos of our games at various wargames shows.

The whole "club" can be seen in the photograph on the left;

Peter is on the right, Jan on the left.

The disadvantage of being just two, is the little time that's available to paint figures, model terrain and actually play a wargame. But up till now, we have managed to present each year a new game.

As can be seen on the other pages, we are interested in historical wargames and even sometimes more interested in history then in the wargame itself.
We live near the city of Venlo, which is in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands, not far from the German border.
As often as we can, we participate in (wargame) shows in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and sometimes Great Britain as it gives us the drive to paint new figures or make new terrain.

What do we play ?

At the moment we play (if we can find the time) the following periods:
- Medieval in 25mm
- 80 Years' War 15mm
- 7 Years War in Europe and India (15mm)
- Napoleonic (1809 Austrian theatre) and the Peninsular War (15mm
- 1914 World War I (20mm)
Planned periods are 1689-1699 and the 1494-1525 period (both in 25mm). Also the French Revolution is a period we love to wargame but we are still in doubt if it will be in 25mm or 15mm.
As with every wargamer, we have a lot of plans, already a lot of boxes with unpainted lead but too little time.
